Recipe to make Idli / Dosa Batter

Summer Time is the best time to make Idli / Dosa Batter

Here is a good recipe to make

Making Idli Dosa Batter

Take 2 cup idli rice or 1 cup par boiled rice + 1 cup soba masuri rice

Rinse the rice a couple of times in fresh water. Drain the water and keep it aside.

Take ½ cup Poha. Rinse the poha with water and add it to the rice. Poha helps make the rice fluffy.

Add 2 cups of water to this, mix well and keep aside to soak for 4-5 hrs.

In a separate bowel take ½ cup urid gota (white) along with ½ spoon fenugreek. Rinse this thoroughly. Strain the water. Add 1 cup water and cover it. Let it soak for 4-5 hrs.

Drain water from the urid dal mix. Using a wet grinder, grind the urid dal and fenugreek mix first. Add 1 cup water from the drained Urid mix or add 1 cup fresh water.

Next drain the water from the rice and poha mix. Keep this water. Grind the mix. Keep adding water as and when required. Break the grinding in 2-3 portions to allow the mix to grind fine. Make sure the mix is ground fine. Pour in a new container. Add 1 spoon of salt.

Now mix the urid dal + fenugreek ground mix batter with the rice + poha batter. Use bare hands to mix the well.

Pour the mixture into a container. Make sure the batter only occupies ½ the volume of the container, giving enough space for the mix to rise.

Keep the mix over night covered in a warm place. In cold temperature, switch on your over at 120 degree for 10 mins, switch is off. Wait for 20 mins and keep the mix covered in the over overnight.
